The YIMBY Project (Yes, in my backyard)

I'm starting an edible garden in my backyard. Now, that's local!

After about 12 hours of hard work with Matt's dad's rototiller, here's a photo of my new garden plot.

There are some pesky patches of grass that won't budge, but I plan to pull them as I go.

The garden will measure approximately 21' by 19' (or 10 by 10 "Darcie steps," my preferred unit of measurement).

This is an ambitious project. I'm new to gardening. I missed the recommended timetable for planting in Wisconsin. We just moved into our new home in Bay View in late May, and we're now halfway through June... Still, I am ready for the challenge!

I have one week before I start my new job, and in that time I want to completely prepare the ground for seedlings. I hope to plant by the end of June. I will keep a tally of what I spend on plants, top soil, and other materials. Then we can all see how much money I save by growing my own food.
